I Decided to start posting early this year, we’re having weather here in Ocean City that’s very unusual for this time of the year. We have had temps in the 60′s in January and February this year, which is great for fisherman with a bad case of cabin fever. Usually after hunting season ends fisherman are stuck in the house till sometime in March. Even then its really tuff to get any action on the end of your line. Most times early spring shore anglers start getting some tog action first along the bulkheads in the bay. Not this year, the tog never stopped biting. Anglers are catching them on 4th 5th and 6th street, and I even saw tog caught at the inlet……unbelievable! Another strange occurrence happening in the fishing world is monster stripers feeding on bunker just off our coast line. Fishermen are reporting seeing whales and large schools of stripers feeding on massive pods of bunker. Local fisherman have been landing stripers on the troll up and down our coast. With fish weighing in the upper 40′s and even some tipping the scales at 50 plus! Last week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we had a epic run out front. All boats had their limits, with some of the nicest fish to ever hit the docks of Ocean City, Maryland. The only problem anglers have been experiencing is getting days fishable due to high winds and ruff seas. The hot lures are Strech 30s and Moe Joe’s the heavier the better 20 oz. is working the best. This week the fishing has slowed down with some anglers scoring big stripers, and others striking out. There are reports that north of Ocean City, the bite continues to yield nice fish. I’ve fished south by Little Gull, but haven’t had much luck. I’ve commercial fished this week and flounder up to 7lbs., croaker, trout, cod, stripers, and even a nice sized lobster we’re in the net. Hopefully its signs of good things to come, for the 2012 season. This year I’m changing some things up with charters. I’m starting early this year, doing more wreck and reef fishing for tog in early spring. We also will be trolling for stripers off the coast as long as the fish are there. I have a feeling that we will be catching them on their spring migration when they head back north. Im also now booking my south jetty striper charters which are my most popular trips. They book up fast…..Im starting them in early May if not sooner. The hottest bite tends to be in late May into June, I will post the best dates in the next week or so. Some dates are better then others due to tides and moon phases. Don’t wait to book the date your interested in, the phone is starting to ring……I will fish for stripers into the summer till the bite slows. I also will be doing Shark and Tuna trips in the Mako CC. These trips are for the hard core……We also will be doing lots of flounder fishing in the bay, this year we are going to try doing 2 and 4 hour make up trips. That means we will try to fill the boat with 5 to 6 people by reservation, We hope to do these a few times a week. Great for people who want to get in a boat to fish, but don’t have the $ to charter the whole boat. The best thing about going with me is you will get the experience of a private guided charter, rather then fishing on a party flounder boat. Well there’s lots more to talk about but I have to go fishing, Im posting some pics from yesterday. These are of me and friend John Foreman trolling for stripers off the coast……Hope you enjoy them!
